S3 - #35 Beef in Black Bean Sauce

Beef in black bean sauce, pg. 43

I am nearly finished with school work for this semester, so I am eager to get back to cooking lots. grin.  I took a day off today and cooked two beef dishes!!! Yes, Paul was very happy. :) I also whipped up a batch of caramel muffins as well as white chocolate muffins.
Anyway, this dish is beef in black bean sauce. Nice and quick to make! I froze it all for Paul's lunches and dinners. :)

Kaikki tämän lukukauden koulujutut on pian tehty, joten ehkä pian tulee taas laiteltua ruokaakin vähän enemmän. Jippii! Tänään pidin taas vapaapäivän ja päätin tekaista pari liharuokaa Paulille. Juu, kovasti oli ukko iloinen. Hih! Tein myös kinuskimuffinsseja ja valkosuklaamuffinsseja. Nam!
Kuvan ruoka on siis naudanlihaa mustapapukastikkeessa (hahaa.. loistavasti käännetty. hihii). Helppo ja nopea tehdä.. niinkuin lähes kaikki näiden kirjojen ohjeet. Just sopivia minulle! Nakkasin ruuan pusseissa pakastimeen, niin Pauli saa napata niitä mukaansa työlounaiksi. :)

  1. Hei ihan mahtava idea tuo, että pakastaa ruoan annospusseissa. Sulatatko ne sitten aamulla ennen Paulin lähtöä, vai sulattaako Pauli ne sitten töissä? Pakastatko ruoan semmoisissa minigrip-tyyppisissä pusseissa vai millaisissa? Kestääkö ne sulattamisen/lämmittämisen, vai pitääkö ruoka ottaa sieltä ensin ulos lautaselle?

  2. Almost everything Laura cooks seems to freeze very well. We don't use mini-grip bags - we use ordinary plastic bags like the ones you put fruit in at the supermarket. We tie knots in the top to seal them.

The important part is making sure the food is properly cooled before sealing the bags, otherwise the steam gets trapped and it turns to ice when it cools.

I take a bag or two from the freezer just before I leave for work, and by lunchtime they are semi-thawed. When I'm ready to eat, I tip the food from the bag(s) into the bowl and microwave it for a few minutes - then stir it a bit - and then microwave it for another minute or so.

The food always tastes great when I re-heat it :) It never tastes like "frozen" food. I think if it was in the freezer for six months or more, it might lose some of the flavour, but nothing tends to stay in our freezer for more than a month - it's just too good :)

  3. Thanks a lot, Paul! :-) I think I should try this trick and try to feed some freezer food to my hubby, who is not at all fond of frozen food. Or maybe it's just my frozen food he doesn't like. Maybe Laura could come and cook for him as well. ;-)

I am sure you are happy when the lunch time arrives. ;-)
